details

When I was walking through the Villa Terrace there were beautiful details around every corner. Everywhere you look there is something hand made and very specialized for its location and owners, which is something we miss with most of the manufactured products today. So kind of in line with something Lucy suggested, I thought it would be interesting to have more contemporary object that are altered or fabricated to stand out as a unique piece. There are a lot of different directions you could go with this idea, I personally was thinking more along the lines of home furnishings and hardware. But whatever it is, it's all about the details.

  1. I agree that creating a piece that contrasted with the traditional decor of the already existing art and architecture would be beneficial. It would be nice to have something that is contemporary, but also reminiscent of the time period of the Villa Terrace. It would make your work stand out more.

  2. When we when to the terrace we discovered that most of the objects minus the iron work and ceilings were not original to the house hold, we discovered a room on the second floor that was like a sun room that looked out over the lake, this room was completely empty, this room intrigued me because it had a lot of history within it that couldn't be revealed because of the time lapse, imagine if we were there 70 years ago, how would it look, what objects would be placed in such a special place, I would love to create something that represented that space through a contemporary means but I also want to remember the history of it and the changes through time.
