Hi everyone,
I also agree with Caitlin and Patrick with regard to bringing the place to life with our objects. In light of our discussion of the both at the Villa Terrace and in our Senior Project class I think it would be interesting to put a contemporary spin on additions to the house. From the tour we learned that over the years new families added more to the building, making it their own, in a way. They kept with the times so to speak, but never compromising it's original beauty and history. I think we could stick with that concept by making work that lives in this contemporary world, but references the past, by either highlighting where we've been, where we are now, or where we are going either locally or globally.
This is a pretty broad theme, and would need appropriate title, but the kind of work is almost limitless. Because our work it be contextualized by a home setting, the work we place in there can easily be read as approachable or usable, rather then in a sterile gallery setting where things are not meant to be touched. I think this is a quality that we should consider when choosing what work we enter in the show.
